I ordered a Yamaha U3 piano in early February 2021. I was hesitant. Jim Laabs Music had an amazing price on reconditioned Yamahas, and I was nervous to order sight unseen. The piano was supposed to arrive in early March.
After hunting all over for a better piano locally and elsewhere at a reasonable price, we bought a Kawai RX-5 at Jim Laabs. Beautiful piano at a great price and the whole transaction couldn't have been better.
Like one of the reviews mentioned, I ordered a reconditioned Yamaha U1 over the phone through Craigslist. I was hesitant because I was not able to play it before buying, and it’s just too hard to find any piano I like around my area!!
tl;dr I'm VERY HAPPY with the piano and price I got, but purchased carefully due to the mixed reviews. I was hesitant to buy due to the mixed reviews but I also noted that many piano buyers in particular were very happy with the price to value they received.
