From the reviews
Great music shop! Was browsing the online inventory for a guitar and they had so much to offer so I decided to make a drive over to the location. Very impressive selection of new and used guitars along with a plethora of other gear.
Trevor down at Mountain Music is awesome. I went in with some gear that just wasn’t fitting my needs anymore. Walked out with a new amp and acoustic, plus a cool cigar box amp and a check for the difference in value. Love this spot, Trevor and his team really know their stuff.
Great place to go if you want great service. I went to get some new strings for my guitar. I have an Applause guitar from the 70's and it has a plastic back. Not only did they know this, but gave me options based on how much I played.
Great group of employees. I went in for a guitar, after learning to play the ukulele this year. I didn't know exactly what I wanted but the three gentlemen who were there were knowledgeable and patient. I also told them I had a mid size budget and they that helped me stay within that which was very much appreciated.
Selling or trading gear at Mountain Music
Mountain Music comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
Lessons at Mountain Music
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Mountain Music. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments and rentals on hand for exactly this reason.
