From the reviews
I have been happily doing business with this FAMILY RUN LOCATION for nearly 20 years. Their "buy" prices are always fair - even a bit generous on special items. Their "sell" prices are always on point, even on new items like accessories.
We needed a decent student trombone and the guys were quick and helpful answering my questions. They also do instrument repairs! I'm glad to have found a nice music store close by.
Absolutely wonderful guitar store, I've been going to the Saint Paul location for years. They give a good price on used gear and have outstanding deals on the guitars they sell. Don't let the fact that they deal in used gear fool you—this place is run by folks who know their stuff. I brought in a Rickenbacker 4001 bass and a Fender Jazz in for some minor repair work and set-ups, as well as an old bass head that needed some soldering, and Matt made everything as good as new at an incredibly…
Selling or trading gear at Music Go Round
Music Go Round comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
