From the reviews
My son has been taking piano lessons at Naperville Music since he was 5 years old. The teachers and staff are amazing — always supportive and encouraging. You can buy or rent instruments conveniently from there, and the recitals are a wonderful way to showcase the students’ progress.
I have a nylon stringed acoustic guitar that the intonation became way off when new strings were installed at another music store recently. I took it to another store soon afterwards and they did a whole setup and new strings. Intonation still way off.
Brought my guitar in for a nut and string install. They did that and so much more for a great price! Love how it turned out! Definitely recommend them for all of your guitar repair needs. Please note from the photos that the marks underneath the nut on the left and right side of the neck were there prior to service.
A hidden secret? Tucked away off Rte 34, a rather drab and unassuming frontage reveals a guitar player's indoor playset. If Guitar Center let's you down, look these guys up. I had my old, weather-beaten Black Fender Strat repaired and perfected very recently. It plays like a dream now! Also they have some pianos.
Selling or trading gear at Naperville Music
Naperville Music comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
Lessons at Naperville Music
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Naperville Music. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments and rentals on hand for exactly this reason.
