A lot of music store owners do a bit of guitar work and offer basic services, but very, very few have the skill needed and technical understanding to build a guitar from scratch, I'm not talking about a kit guitar, but the wood carving, fret work, inlay work, pro finish, etc... Mike Nedd is the real deal!
Paid a great price for a top teir set up! Back story: 4 years ago I took my fender strat to an unnamed franchise location and paid for a set up. Nothing crazy needed to be done. I had tried to do stuff on my own and it was all out of whack. When I got it back from this unnamed location it didn't seem much better.
Brought in a very heavily played Les Paul, frets and fret board were in very poor condition. Asked for a fret job to hopefully get a few more years out of the guitar. Picked up a guitar that was in virtually new condition.
Nedd is Awesome. I brought a family heirloom into his shop and immediately he was very sensitive to the age and condition of the guitar. He was straightforward, plugged it in, played with the dials and switches, and he told me how he would start to trouble shoot.
