From the reviews
I was looking for a nice guitar for my daughter and ventured in to Northern Lights. I was given space to look around on my own. Once I was obviously interested in a particular type, I was engaged by a gentleman I believe was the store owner.
Dan's a great guy, and the staff is very approachable. Great selection. Edit: I've been working with Dan and his family for over 20 years. Exceptional people, and once again, I am buying another guitar from them.
Worked with Dan over emails for a couple of weeks from Virginia on a new Bourgeois GA DB guitar . I received it on time and fast as we discussed, I needed it to arrive on a certain day due to having to be home to receive it and having a busy schedule working in a church .
I haven't been to Northern Lights in awhile but I've done a lot of business there over the years buying and trading guitars along with having repairs done on my guitars. Dan always seems to find the right guitar 🎸 to fit my needs the last high end guitar I bought was a 71 Martin D-35.
Selling or trading gear at Northern Lights Music
Northern Lights Music comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
