From the reviews
It has been such a pleasure taking lessons with Phil!! I have been taking weekly 30 minute private lessons with Phil for almost a year now, and I have progressed so much! When I first started taking lessons with Phil, I had absolutely no prior experience with guitar.
As a 30 year old, learning guitar from step one is not easy, but Phil is a phenomenal teacher. He is super patient, extremely knowledgeable on different genres of music relating to guitar and not related to guitar. He finds ways to make you want to play and get better in areas you are interested in.
I've been taking guitar lessons from Phil at the Providence Guitar Academy for over a year. I used to take guitar lessons as a kid and hadn't really been close to the guitar in the last 20 years. Starting lessons with Phil was like picking up from where you left.
Phil’s classes have helped to increase my guitar skills tenfold. He adapts to your knowledge and understanding of guitar, provides a customized curriculum, and is never short on answers when asked about music theory or its application to the guitar.
Lessons at Providence Guitar Academy
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Providence Guitar Academy. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments on hand for exactly this reason.
