From the reviews
Steve and his staff do superb work, are straight-up and honest and are basically a world-class luthier shop in tiny North Adams, MA. So grateful to have found them!
I have been playing for years and my guitar tech was in Schenectady now that I'm in North Adams I found the right place to go. I brought in a 97 washburn N2 and had a complete setup done on it and it plays fabulous. Excellent work and explained what they had to do to the guitar.
Steve repaired three of my guitars 2 or 3 years ago. The Taylor 810 was better than new (neck fixed, new frets); the Martin D28s was great (repaired a crack, new pick gaurd); the Gibson ES 345 (intermittent pickup wiring) was brought back to use. All three guitars still bring me great joy!
Steve Sauve is outstanding! Repaired my vintage Martin tenor guitar that had been very poorly worked on at a different shop. Also did wonderful work on two of my other vintage tenor guitars. I can’t say enough good things about him.
Selling or trading gear at Sauve Guitars
Sauve Guitars comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
