From the reviews
I bought my son a guitar from guitar center last month for his birthday (never again) and within weeks it was losing connection. It had a loose jack and even worse issues inside we were unaware of. I called Skips. Spoke to Eric who instantly wanted to help since my son’s first show was 24 hours away.
Blows guitar center out of the water in everyway. After 3 diffeeent trade ins and 3 new basses I'll only come here for any business. Micah handled everything from the trade to the setting up of my new basses. I have a specific setup I like and he got it EXACTLY right each time.
Amazing selection of Guitars, Bass Guitars, Drums, Equipment, anything you can think of! Alec & Cody both were ultra friendly and helped me with any and EVERY question I had. Thanks so much Mike for the 60's Strat! Will be back!
SKIP'S is hands down the best music store left standing in the Sacramento area having lived here for the last 25 years I can say I miss my guitar showcase in San Jose however Skips has filled that void nicely, though as a bass player we always wish we had more representation with that being said they almost always…
Selling or trading gear at Skip's Music - Sacramento
Skip's Music - Sacramento comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
Lessons at Skip's Music - Sacramento
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Skip's Music - Sacramento. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments and rentals on hand for exactly this reason.
