Sam is awesome! This store treated me as a real musician even though I'm a beginner. Taught me a whole bunch about amps and guitars in general! A guitar store with a great attitude and very hands on!
A great non-corporate music shop if you live between Havre de Grace and Philly! Took Mike my 15+ year old Epiphone Dot that I had bought used and he gave it a wonderful set up. Talked me through different methods of setting the tailpiece/bridge, string gauge, walked me through everything he was going to do.
Awesome experience getting my 20 year old acoustic guitar looked over, adjusted, and matched with new strings and wearable parts. Mike spent 30 minutes with me explaining some symptoms I was hitting with the sound, answering my questions, and finding the right parts.

Selling or trading gear at Smalls Music Shop

First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
