I cannot say enough good things about this place. I found a banjo in an antique store and brought it here for restoration for my son's birthday. I was completely blown away by the meticulous care they took with the instrument and their prices for restoration were more than fair.
The owner and employees can be direct but they know what they're talking about. They've always been more than fair and have saved me a lot of money with their repairs. If you want to understand things from their perspective sit in the shop for an hour and see what kind of things they have to deal with.
I walked in to Spruce Tree Music last week to shop for a ukulele. I was so impressed with the large selection of violins, guitars, mandolins, and other stringed instruments! I received great information about ukuleles and had the opportunity to try a few models. I thought the assistance I received was wonderful.....
These folks performed a setup for me on a Yamaha FG830 that I had purchased 3 months earlier - an instrument that sounded pretty good to begin with but was a little difficult to finger on the lower frets. I could not be happier with the results.

Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
