Paul approached the problem with a combination of deep technical knowledge and genuine care for both the instrument and the player.
I highly recommend Spuyten Duyvil String Instrument Repair. Last year, my classical guitar—then two years old—developed an intermittent buzz that only appeared in specific instances. I took it to two repair shops (one in the Bronx and one in Yonkers), but neither could pinpoint the source.
I've brought several of my guitars ranging from acoustics to electrics to Paul to get setup. He's very knowledgable and is very transparent about his thought process and recommendations for each instrument. He's transformed a few instruments I was thinking about parting ways with into keepers with the work he's done!
Extremely pleased with the quality of the work and service. Came to SD String Instrument Repair with a crack to the body of an older and very sentimental Martin, totally freaked out. Paul was accommodating and did a great job of explaining how he could fix it.
