From the reviews
Steilberg String Instruments is phenomenal to work with! I’m a full time guitarist based in New Orleans. Neal and Jim put together a special order G&L Comanche for me and it was one of the smoothest, informative, pleasant and exciting experiences I’ve ever had buying a guitar.
Been going there for years. Everything you want in a music store. A great selection of a variety of stringed instruments and accessories. The staff is very knowledgeable and Jim is a first-rate luthier; he's worked on several of my guitars.
Had a great experience here. Walked away with an awesome guitar at a great price. I've been looking for a Furch forever, but couldn't find them easily. On a trip to Louisville, I found out Steilberg is a retailer with a great selection. Neil and Jim were both super helpful, patient, and knowledgeable.
If you're looking for a nice, high-end acoustic, this is the place. Kind of light on selection, but what they do have is all top shelf. You won't find a $100 Yamaha dreadnaught or any other eBay level guitars. Nothing but the best here. And the guy working when I stopped in was a cool dude. Highly recommended!
Selling or trading gear at Steilberg String Instruments, LLC
Steilberg String Instruments, LLC comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
Lessons at Steilberg String Instruments, LLC
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Steilberg String Instruments, LLC. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments on hand for exactly this reason.
