From the reviews
Tom is a really good guy who isn't out there to try and take you for everything he can. He paid me a fair price for a stereo receiver that I was selling and it was a very professional and pleasant transaction. I would recommend him to friends, family and anyone who is either looking to buy or sell.
Toms Sound is the koolest music shop in Birmingham for sure. They have used and new equipment,as well as killer vintage stereos, and the guitar pedals and microphone selection is always fun to check out because you never know what will be in stock.
I’ve been piecing together a vintage stereo system, buying pieces here and there and fixing them if needed. They have a couple of very nice stereo receivers advertised on Facebook, and I dropped by to check them out.
Great service and friendly staff. Had an issue with a used item I had purchased from them online, called them and spoke with a person directly. They resolved the issue quickly and treated me with great care. Much respect for them, will continue to shop with Tom!
Selling or trading gear at Toms Sound
Toms Sound comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
