From the reviews
I live in Atlanta, and I was spending the weekend close by Dahlonega, I found this shop and dropped my guitar for some adjustments, knowing it would take me a couple hours round trip to pickup again. Best decision ever, my 25 year old Takamine feels brand new again. Ken knows his stuff and is a beautiful person.
The instruments here are in great shape and you can get new or used things. Vintage Music also has how-to books on many things. This store has a higher string instrument selection than wind instruments. There is a great variety of guitars and fiddles though! The owner John Grimm is very helpful and kind.
John sold me my first violin when I was 4, and he sold me my most recent Martin when I was in my 30’s. For new/used instruments, repairs, or lessons, John is the man. There is a reason people travel out of their way to visit this shop. Proud to call this my hometown music shop.
Stopped by this music store today. Wonderful collection of guitars and amp amongst the violins. Very nice gentlemen holding the fort down. Saw a nice Ibanez guitar. Definitely a place that makes you comfortable to take something home.
Lessons at Vintage Musical Instruments
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Vintage Musical Instruments. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments on hand for exactly this reason.
