Cactus Music

Update: I attended the Kacey Musgraves, 'Middle of Nowhere', album listening party, on a Thursday at 5:30 pm. This was the first time in a long-time for an event here for me, that drew my interest into driving a distance of about 30 miles one-way into the city, from the suburbs in many, many years!

It’s been about two years since this record store piqued my interest, and I first stopped in to browse—and let me just say, it was a trip down memory lane. Walking into Cactus Music reminded me of the excitement I felt back in the 1980s, visiting Camelot Music Land and other classic record stores in the mall.

I was pleasantly surprised and pleased to see Cactus Music up and running as I was driving down Shepherd. This was one of the must go places for music paraphernalia and lp's back in the day, when it was located on Alabama and Shepherd. I returned the following week to "step back in time," and it did not disappoint.

Came into Cactus Music to do some digging and was thoroughly impressed. The genre selection is massive, the store has an awesome local history vibe, and the prices are incredibly fair. I picked up a rare mid-70s Chuck Armstrong soul record on colored vinyl that was marked down to $14.
