What players say again and again

“The shop owner was so enthusiastic and sympathetic; he happily passed on his knowledge and we felt no shame at how small our budget was.”
From the reviews
We went to Fan Guitar and Ukulele based off a recommendation from another guitar shop, which had very little inventory and mostly offered lessons. We wanted to buy our daughter her first electric guitar and were more than a little lost on what types of guitars would suit a new player.
I go here for my guitar lessons with Grant. He does a great job in showing proper technique and answering any questions I have. He can also do virtual lessons if needed. Highly recommend working with Grant! Edit: I bought a guitar here and it's awesome
Fan Guitar and Ukulele is an excellent music shop. I have bought awesome vintage guitars here at super low prices. It’s the sort of place that encourages repeat visits, so be patient, join their email list, and you’ll soon find something amazing.
They sold me one of my ukuleles and did the set up for two more. They are wonderful. First of all, their sets ups are great and they also did a great job smoothing the edges of the fret wire on one of the ones I brought in.
Selling or trading gear at Fan Guitar and Ukulele
Fan Guitar and Ukulele comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
Lessons at Fan Guitar and Ukulele
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Fan Guitar and Ukulele. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments on hand for exactly this reason.
