From the reviews
After reviewing the reviews about Tom’s Violin repair shop, I took my Dad’s violin to him for a restoration! I was just recently reunited with my Dad’s violin after 57 years being separated from it! Tom’s knowledge amazed me and his detail concerning the repairs had me feeling good about where I brought it for repair!
Tom’s Heirloom Violins Shop is a true gem and the only violin shop of its kind anywhere nearby. If it weren’t for Tom, I’d have to drive at least six hours to find anything close to this level of quality and expertise. Tom is incredibly experienced and knowledgeable. He clearly knows string instruments inside and out.
This is a great violin repair and maintenance shop in Springfield MO. The owner meets you in person and thoroughly explains all of his recommendations before starting the work. He really seems to understand the technical science behind stringed instruments. He gave upfront pricing that was reasonable.
Tom replaced the strings on my violin and measured the placement of the bridge with minor adjustments. He did a thorough inspection of the instrument. There is a noticeable improvement in the sound. Quite a selection of quality violins and bows with reasonable prices.
Lessons at Tom's Heirloom Violins
Reviews and the store's own info mention lessons at Tom's Heirloom Violins. If you're signing up a beginner (or restarting yourself), a quick call ahead answers the three things that matter: which instruments they teach, whether the schedule has openings at the time you actually need, and what a first lesson costs. There's no wrong first guitar — a good teacher will happily work with whatever you walk in with, and a shop that teaches usually keeps affordable starter instruments and rentals on hand for exactly this reason.
