What's on the wall
“I’m a piano technician and autoharps were a bit different than I’m used to but with the video I felt confident to do it myself.”
“On top of that, while I was still making payments, he offered free repairs and string replacements, and threw in a soft-shell case and set of finger picks for free.”
“I purchased a banjo from this shop and worked out a pricing plan with the owner over the next few months with no interest owed.”
What players say again and again
“Had a booth set up, we stopped by, and I bought another autoharp: a D/G diatonic Luthier’s Classic - my 3rd d’Aigle!”
“Pete, Hal, Keith and other staff are very helpful and knowledgeable in identifying various instruments and repairs.”
From the reviews
Friendly service and fair pricing. I purchased a banjo from this shop and worked out a pricing plan with the owner over the next few months with no interest owed.
We were at Wintergrass (& visiting our son & his wife) in February and Pete d’Aigle was there! Had a booth set up, we stopped by, and I bought another autoharp: a D/G diatonic Luthier’s Classic - my 3rd d’Aigle! Needed some tweaking (pickup) and would be ready on the Monday after Wintergrass.
Pete has a great store here and is a fantastic luthier of autoharps; but you don't have to take my word for it...Sheryl Crow bought one recently! A lovely music shop with plenty of fun toys to play with (try the tuned propane tank drums!), and they'll let you tour the workshop if they have time.
Delightful shop for all sorts of folk instruments. Nationally known among autoharp players for their finely crafted instruments and repair service. They also have some nice instruments on consignment, and I bought a great one this way. The owner, Pete d'Aigle, may greet you at the door.
Selling or trading gear at d'Aigle Autoharps & Folk Instruments
d'Aigle Autoharps & Folk Instruments comes up for buying and trading used gear — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the trip go better. First, bring the whole package: the case or gig bag, the original tremolo arm or bridge parts, the paperwork if you have it — a complete rig is worth real money more than a bare instrument, and it saves the back-and-forth of "can you bring the case in?" Second, know that trade credit almost always beats the cash offer, usually by a healthy margin — if you're upgrading anyway, price your old gear as a trade against the new one before you take cash. Either way, expect the offer to be below what the gear sells for on the wall; the gap is the store's margin for setup, warranty, and sitting on it until the right buyer walks in.
